Helen "Chuddy" Springmier Osting, 81, of Greensburg, died March 15, 2009.
Born Oct. 30, 1927 in Greensburg, she was the daughter of Louis and Lois (Templeton) Springmier, both deceased. She married Stanley Miers Osting Aug. 10, 1946; he preceded her in death.
Mrs. Osting graduated from Greensburg High School in 1945. She was a housewife and worked on her husband's farm. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Greensburg.
Survivors include daughters, Margaret L. Davis of Milroy and Rebecca (Gregg) Sims of Greensburg; son, David (Linda) Osting of Greensburg; brother, P. Fred (Joyce) Springmier of Greensburg; sister, Donna Sue (Bill) (Springmier) Marlow of Greensburg; seven grandchildren, Daniel (Philann) Davis, Ben (Nikki) Davis, Nathan (Jennifer) Osting, Amy (Jason) Murray, Brett (Kristi) Osting, Alison Mauer, Brian Sims; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a brother, Gordon H. Springmier, and a sister, Sara J. (Springmier) Layton.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home in Greensburg with Dr. Lee Riggs officiating. Burial will follow in Greensburg's South Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Decatur County or to First Baptist Church.
