Grace Powell Sports, 97, died Saturday, November 7, 2015, at her residence.
Mrs. Sports was born September 26, 1918, in Georgetown County, a daughter of the late Murray M. Powell and the late Odell Godwin Powell.
She lived her entire life in Andrews and was a member of Happy Home Original Free Will Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was a member of the Eastern Star for over fifty years and a former Worthy Matron. Mrs. Sports sold Avon until she was ninety-three and also worked for the Tupperware Company for a time.
She was survived by a daughter, Delores Sports Blakely of Andrews; a granddaughter, Valarie Blakely of Andrews; a grandson, Charlton (Ann) Blakely of Andrews; and two great-grandchildren, Taylor Blakely of Florence and Hal Blakely of Andrews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Lavere Sports; three brothers, Willard (Sadie) Powell, LaGrand Powell, and Durant Powell; and a son-in-law, Rembert Blakely.
Funeral services were Monday, November 9, 2015, in the Andrews Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home. The Rev. Murray Powell and the Rev. Jerry Fennell officiated. Burial followed in Andrews Memorial Cemetery.
