FLORENCE - Margie Sports Lee, widow of Carl D. Lee, Sr., died on July 29, 2012. Mrs. Lee was born in Clio, SC, on January 19, 1937, and was the daughter of the late Charlie W. and Mellie Gibson Sports.

She was a resident of Florence for 52 years. At the age of 15, she met and fell in love with her future husband. They were happily married for over 51 years until Carl's death on May 21, 2004. She was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church, member of the Mixed Blessing Sunday school class and served as Nursery Coordinator.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a daughter, Amy Adele Lee; sisters, Kathryn Sports Leviner, Anne Sports Price Graham, and Margaret Sports Hyman; and brothers, Charlie W. Sports, Jr., and William D. Sports.

Surviving are her children, Carl and Doris Lee, Beverly L. and John McKee, Steve and Mary Lee, and Gordon and Valerie Lee, all of Florence; four grandchildren, John David (Heather) McKee of Greenville, Christopher Lee McKee, Alexandra Adele Lee, and Taylor Shannon Lee, all of Florence; a brother, George W. (Frances) Sports of Charleston; two sisters, Bertha Sports Purvis of Maggie Valley, NC, and Mattie Sports Calcutt of Florence; three great-grandchildren, Gavin, Ethan and Keegan; two god-children, Tommy Richardson and Amanda Anderson, both of Florence; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 1, 2012, in Ridgecrest Baptist Church, directed by Waters-Powell Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Florence Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.
