PEORIA, IL - Doris I. Chatwell, 93, of Peoria passed away at 9:20 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007, at her residence.
She was born June 28, 1914, in Taylorville, Ill., to Ernest H. and Lottie F. (Elliott) Spinner. She married Alfred Chatwell on Nov. 25, 1943, in San Antonio, Texas. He passed away Aug. 4, 1991, in Peoria.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Ames; two brothers and a great-granddaughter.
Surviving are two sons, Jim (Clarissa) Chatwell of Peoria and Mike (Sheila) Chatwell of Wanatah, Ind.; one sister, Lucille Heinkel of Decatur; seven grandchildren Kelly, Richard, Shelly, Jason, Sarah, Matthew and Jennifer; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Doris was a homemaker who attended business college in Decatur, Ill., in her early years.
She enjoyed needlework, plastic canvas and crocheting.
The moment you walked in her home, you knew she had a love of plants and flowers. She also had a big heart for nature and God's animals.
Everyone enjoyed her specialties of chocolate chip cookies, oatmeal raisin cookies, Boston cream pie and beef and noodles.
Mom was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who devoted her entire life to her family. She loved to be with the family and took every opportunity to initiate and be part of whatever occasion there happened to be.
Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery.
