Born to John Spinks (1785-1843) and Louisa Jourdan Spinks (c.1797- c.1829).

Wincey married Ervin Barefield (1812-1856) on Oct. 21, 1847, in Lauderdale County, MS. The names Barfield/Barefield seemed to be used interchangeably during the 1800s in this family.

• Sarah Elizabeth Barefield Edwards (1852-1934)
• John Spinks Barfield (1853-1929)
• Enola Ervin Barfield Williamson (1856-1948)

In addition to these children, Wincey reared Nancy Catherine McGahey after Nancy's parents died. Nancy married Wincey's half-brother, James Alexander Spinks.

Wincey died at age 90.
