Obituary From Ottumwa Daily Courier, Monday, February 13, 1939, Page 10:
Hazel Ellen Spilman, 9-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Spilman, 946 West Williams street, died at the St. Joseph hospital Sunday at 5 p.m. She was a Jefferson school student.
Surviving are her parents; three brothers, Paul Edward, Jr., Richard and Everett, at home, and the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Spilman of Ottumwa.
Short services will be Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. in Johnson's funeral chapel and at [sic] conducted by the Rev. A.D. Mc- [sic-should be McClure] 2 p.m. in the Pentecostal church, Clure [sic]. Burial will be in the Shaul cemetery.
