Clara Spikes Moore, 72, died Friday evening (October 24, 2014) at her residence following an extended illness. She was a native of Millwood in Ware County but had lived most of her life in Brantley County. She was the wife of the late Henry Grady Moore and daughter of the late Dave Spikes and Nellie Wilson Spikes. She was also preceded in death by a son, Travis Moore, sisters, Sara Downing and Mary O'Berry, and brothers Jimmy L. Spikes, Sr., Bobby F. Spikes, Harvey Spikes, J.D. Spikes, Jesse Spikes, and Bill Spikes.
She was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church and the Class of Love Sunday School Class. She will be remembered as a lady that never met a stranger and loved everyone. She loved her church as her family and her legacy was to have all of her children and grandchildren to know the Lord as their personal Savior. She took a very active part in the raising of each one of her grandchildren.
Survivors include a son, Donald Moore (girl friend Kim McQuaig) of Brantley County, a daughter Kathy Sellers of Brantley County, 9 grandchildren, Joey Moore, Virginia Moore Altman, Travis D. Moore, Jr., Crystal Moore, Jeffrey Wilson, Victoria Sellers, Terri Sellers, Albert Sellers, and Matthew Moore, 18 great grandchildren, a sister, Shirley Sears Musgrove (husband James V.) of Waycross, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Memorials may be sent to Hospice Satilla, 808 Evergreen Way, Waycross, GA 31501.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday (October 27, 2014) at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Burial will be in Thomas Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Sunday at Music Funeral Home. Members of the Class of Love Sunday School Class and Deacons of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church are asked to gather at the church at 1:40 PM Monday to serve as honorary pallbearers.
