Elta Sperb Given Zion Interment
Interment in Zion Memorial park was given Wednesday to Elta Amelia Sperb, 79, widow of Louis Sperb, who died Sunday, June 22 in Portland Osteopathic hospital. She had returned to the hospital June 10 after a nursing home stay and earlier hospitalization.
Formerly of South Dakota, Mrs. Sperb had lived in the Canby area from 1928 until January 1967, when she sold her S.E. Township road home and moved to Oregon City View Manor. She and Mr. Sperb, who died Oct. 1, 1960, had farmed until 1949 in the Milk Creek sector before selling that property to the Tom Kasaharas.
She was a member of Oregon City First Presbyterian church, Warner Grange, the Canby and Oregon City Golden Age clubs, and was a past president of Canby Garden club and Canby W.C.T.U.
Eight sons and three daughters survive their mother: Lyle of Gresham, Harold of West Linn, Merlin and Russell in South Dakota, Floyd in Wyoming, Merrill in California, Clifford of Waldport, Roy of Portland, Mrs. Francis (Vera) Phelps of California, Mrs. W. G. (Iris) Mitts of Molalla, and Mrs. Raymen (Virginia) Zacher of Canby. Mrs. Sperb also leaves 25 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Harry W. Howard of Calvary Mennonite church, Barlow, officiated at Wednesday afternoon's funeral services in Hillside chapel, Oregon City.
