George Spencer was a service casualty of WW1

George was the husband of Grace Emily Spencer (nee Millachip) of Cavendish Road, Brondesbury and was the son of the Rev. A. and Mrs. Spencer, of Steeple Aston, Oxon.

Although the headstone over the family grave suggests George was killed in action in Zeebrugge, the burial records indicate that George passed away at the Royal Naval Hospital in Gillingham.

He served as Lieutenant H.M.S. Iris Royal Naval Reserve. He was also awarded the D.S.C. for bravery.
