Christine E Asher 88, died Sunday, July 9, 2006 at St Francis Hospital in Beech Grove. Before moving to Greenwood Village South, in 2003, she lived for 32 years on an 80 acre farm near Decatur Township's West Newton Camby area. A graduate of Southport High School, she was always involved in agriculture.
Her father founded Earl Speicher & Sons, livestock order buyers at the Indianapolis Stock Yards. Earl partnered with Christine's two brothers Reginald and Robert and her husband, of forty-three years Les. The company bought cattle for food processors in the Midwest and East Coast.
A homemaker most of her life, she was widowed some 22 years ago. She is survived by two sons, two granddaughters, three grandsons, and two great-granddaughters, and former daughter in law.
She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Reginald and Robert Speicher.
Christine was a member of the West Newton Friends Church.
She loved animals and over the years, the farm raised many cattle, geese, chickens, goats, mules and horses, plus housing 4-H pigs and lambs for grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thurs July 13, at G H Herrmann Madison Avenue Funeral Home, 5141 Madison Avenue, with visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wed, July 12 at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Washington Park East. Memorial contributions may be made to West Newton Friends Church or Decatur Township Dollars for Scholars
