Birth: May 1, 1923
Texas, USA
Death: Jun. 8, 1984, Ireland

Lt. Col., U.S. Army. Veteran Service Dates: 07/23/1943 - 10/01/1969. Date of interment: 07/06/1984. James was my first wife's father. He did service in the chemical corps, as his expertise was chemistry. I seem to recall he was stationed at Aberdeen Proving Ground in 1951, where his daughter Rosemary was born. He was also a Vietnam veteran, and at times worked at Ft. Dietrick in Frederick, MD, as well as Edgewood Arsenal. At one point in his career he may have also been the commanding officer at Rocky Mountain Arsenal outside Denver, CO. He and his wife were vacationing in Ireland in 1984, and were following (perhaps too closely) a truck filled with barrels of molassas. The barrels broke loose, and at least one smashed into driver James Speer. My understanding is that he died in the hospital of injuries sustained in the accident.
