Born May 27, 1947, in Delaware Township, Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late Harmon J. and Lena (Rice) Speece. Her husband of more than 43 years, James S. Dunn, Sr., whom she married on June 5, 1966, survives.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, James S. Dunn, Jr. and his wife Lori, of Seven Stars, Jody L. Hockenberry and her husband Jason, of Port Royal, one brother, Robert L. Speece, Sr., of Thompsontown, and she leaves behind five grandchildren, Ashten Swartz and her husband Deron, Cody Dunn, Jessica Hockenberry, Jasmine Hockenberry, Jordan Hockenberry and many nieces and nephews.
One sister, Quinn Swartz preceded her in death.
Mrs. Dunn was a 1965 graduate of East Juniata High School, Cocolamus, a homemaker and a member of the Locust Run United Methodist Church, Locust Run.
Judy, being musically inclined, loved to sing, listen to country music and play the guitar; she also enjoyed tending her flowers, but most of all her greatest joy came from the love that she held for her grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 2, 2010, from the Locust Run United Methodist Church, Locust Run with the Rev. Maureen Wagner officiating. Interment followed in the Locust Run Cemetery, Locust Run.
Viewing was held from 4 - 9 p.m. Friday, January 1, 2010 at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville with the family present from 7 - 9 p.m. and from 10 a.m. until the time of service, Saturday at the church.
