Edith French, age 94, of the Pittsfield HealthCare Center in Pittsfield, Ill. died 4 a.m. Wednesday (April 10, 2002) at the HealthCare Center. She was born November 25, 1907 in Benville, Ill. daughter of the late William G. and Maude Miller Sparks. She married Charles Loren Wagner and later married John E. French in February 21, 1948 in New Salem, Ill. and he preceded her in death in 1992.

Surviving is four sons, Billy L. Wagner and wife Phyllis of Thomasboro, Ill., Robert French and wife Melissa of Union, Michigan, Leroy French and wife Peggy of Hortonville, Indiana, and Jim French and wife Sandy of Sheraton, Indiana; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by parents; husbands; three sisters, Eva Butler Lippincott, Dorothy Sparks, and Lena Sparks; two brothers, Eldon and William Sparks.

She was a member of the Pittsfield First Baptist Church in Pittsfield, Ill.. She enjoyed fishing, crafts, card games and playing "Pitch".
Services were entrusted to Airsman-Hires Funeral Home of Pittsfield, Illinois.
