Danny L. Sparks Sr., 53, of Newton passed away at 6:45 a.m. Friday, March 4, 2011, at Evergreen Nursing Home, Effingham.

Danny was born Aug. 29, 1957, in Indianapolis, the son of Dwight and Beverly (LaShur) Sparks. On Jan. 17, 1976, he married Mary Ruth Spears. For 30 years, Danny was an independent truck driver. He enjoyed spending time with family, singing and playing music.

He played guitar with "Clyde and the Boys." Each Tuesday, they entertained many dancers at the Ambraw Country Music Jamborees in Newton.

He will be loved and remembered by his wife, Mary Ruth Sparks of Newton; son, Danny Sparks Jr. (wife, Dana) of Newton; granddaughter, Jennifer Sparks of Newton; parents, Dwight and Beverly Sparks of Indianapolis; and four sisters, Sharon Sparks, Barbara Ramey, Brenda Cox and Tina Watson, all of Indianapolis.

His brother, David Sparks, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Crain Funeral Home, Newton.

Burial will be in Kerns Cemetery, rural Newton. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today, March 7, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Sparks family.
