Born on March 2, 1929, in Centreville, MD, she was the daughter of the late Wilton Daniel and Nattie Mae Jester Sparks. She attended Centreville High School and later married William Elmer McLaughlin of Chestertown, MD. This marriage later ended in divorce. In June 1973 she married Joseph Samuel Liberto of Baltimore, MD. She started working for Western Electric in Baltimore, MD and retired after 22 years.
She was a member of the Kent Island American Legion Post #278 Ladies Auxiliary. Mildred loved to read.
She is survived by her daughter Sharon Ann Palmer of Easton, MD; six grandchildren: Michael Palmer of Tampa, FL, Stephen Palmer (Amy), Kristina Cook (Edmund), Nicholas McLaughlin, Holly McLaughlin, and Eddie McLaughlin; six great grandchildren: Jessica Cooper, Jordan Behr, Jonah Behr, Camden Palmer, Cadin McLaughlin, and Molly Palmer; and a great- great-granddaughter, Reagan. She was predeceased by her husband, Joe; four sisters: Helen Middleton, Jean Henslay, Audrey Rublen, and Faye Elrod; and two brothers, Alden Spencer and William Spencer.
A visitation will be held on Friday, April 15, 2016 from 5-7 pm at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A. in Chester, MD. A service will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A. in Chester, MD. Interment will be in Stevensville Cemetery.
