BRISTOL, Tenn. - Minnie South Arnold, 92, formerly of Braswell Baker Road, Bristol, Tenn., passed away Tuesday (July 17, 2007) in Grace HealthCare, Abingdon, Va.
She was a native of Sullivan County and was the daughter of the late Samuel David and Martha Rhymer South. She was the widow of Dan "Pert" Arnold.
Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Rutherford and husband, John, of Georgetown, Del., and Linda Sue Yates and husband, Ed, of Bristol, Va.; one son, Peter Arnold and wife, Janet, of Bristol, Tenn.; one sister, Bettye Wiles of Kingsport; seven grandchildren, Yvonne Baldwin, Tony Arnold, Sandra Rutledge, Spc. Matthew Arnold, Sherry Burbidge, Cindy Givens and John Rutherford II; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:45 p.m. today prior to the service at Akard Funeral Home.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Clarence Dishman officiating.
The committal service and interment will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at the graveside in Holston Valley Baptist Church Cemetery, 18396 Cleveland Road, Abingdon, Va.
