Ruby S. Melancon, 82, passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2013.

She is survived by one daughter, Odile Moreau and her husband Michael of Toronto, Canada; three sons, Mario Melancon and his wife Joy of Lafayette, Maurice "Moe" Melancon of Lafayette, and Anthony Melancon and his wife Sandra of Lafayette; one sister, Juanita Fortier and her husband Pierre of Lafayette; four grandchildren, Sarah Haynes, Jennifer Duff, Rebecca Johnson, and Stephanie Melancon; and four great-grandchildren, Benjamin Hernandez, Joelle Friedman, Zachary Friedman, and Sophia Haynes.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Melancon; and her parents, Odile and Claude Sonnier.

Mrs. Melancon was a volunteer for the Bayou Council Girl Scouts, Evangeline Area Boy Scout Council, and was an active member of the Congres de Mondral Acadian. She was also an organizer of the Benoit Family Reunion, known for her banana bread, and crocheted blankets for the sick and her friends.

Pallbearers will be Mario Melancon, Maurice "Moe" Melancon, Anthony Melancon, Colin Duff, Joachin Fortier, and Leonce Fortier. Honorary Pallbearers are Philip Haynes, Benjamin Hernandez, and Russell Dilley.
