Kenesaw resident Bertha C Soker, 95, died Monday March 3, 1997 at Haven Home of Kenesaw.

Services are Thursday at First St Paul's Lutheran Church Heritage Room in Hastings with the Rev Harold Stromer officiating. Graveside services are at Hildreth Cemetery at Hildreth. Brand-Wilson Funeral Home of Hastings is in charge of arrangements.

Miss Soker was born Jan 18, 1902 to Fred and Etta (Schepler) Soker in Hildreth. She attended Doane College and graduated from the University of Nebraska. She taught school in Lexington. She took a leave of absence to be the bookkeeper in Fairbanks, Alaska, for the Kansas City Bridge and Construction Co during the building of the Al-Can Highway (Alaska Highway). She later taught school at Maderia (Calif) High School. For two years, she was a missionary for American Lutheran Church in Lea, New Guinea. She returned to Maderia High School to teach. In 1969 she retired and moved to Hildreth. She later moved to Good Samaritan Village Goldbeck Towers in Hastings. She moved to Haven Home seven years ago.

She is survived by one sister, Tillie Soker of Kenesaw.
