Verna Soderstrom Harrison, of Woods Cross, Utah, passed away at the age of 81 on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at Manor Care of South Ogden in South Ogden, UT.
She was born November 27, 1927 in Oasis, Millard County, UT, the youngest of five children born to Carl Ferdinand Soderstrom and Ragnhild Marie Andersen.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved the closeness of friends and family. She will be most remembered for her kind heart and thoughtfulness that she gave to others, including 750+ foster/shelter care children. Verna will be missed by all those who knew her.
She met her sweetheart, of 59 years, Claude Wayne Harrison, while they were working downtown, in Salt Lake City, UT and married on July 8, 1950. They were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on July 8, 1964.
She leaves behind a loving husband, Claude; children, Lyle (Ann), Janese (Tom) Stewart, Raylin, Terry (Heidi), Shawnna (Larry) Hunt, and Lindy (Ken) Ekstrom; 17 grandchildren, three step grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and one great-step-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her: parents; brothers, Leland, Edgar, and Leo; sister, Evelyn and son, Maynard.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 27, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Estates Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road (1700 West), Taylorsville, UT. A viewing will be held on Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the mortuary, and one hour prior to the services.
Interment to follow at the Redwood Memorial Estates Cemetery.
