Edith Marie Bush, 79, of 95 Pershing Ave., died at 4:55 p.m. on Thursday (July 31, 2003) in the emergency room at WCA Hospital.
A native of Jamestown, she was born April 23, 1924, the daughter of Oscar and Ellen Persson Soderstrom.
She was the widow of Harry L. Bush, whom she married April 19, 1947, and who died March 27, 1995.
She was the cook for the Marvin Community House for 35 years retiring in 2002. Formerly she was employed at the former Hedberg Bakery. She was a life-long member of Salvation Army and was their pianist for many years. She was also a member of American Scandinavian Heritage Foundation, Marvin Community House, and a volunteer and played piano at many area nursing homes.
She was a recipient of the Award Of Merritt in 2002 from the Scandinavian Studies Program of Jamestown Community College.
She is survived by her son, Dennis P. Bush of Jamestown; a daughter, Karen M. Alm of Wakefield, R.I.; and five grandchildren: Courtney and Chelsea Bush, both of Jamestown, Colleen Bush of Painted Post, Jenny and John Alm, both of Wakefield.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Soderstrom, on Jan. 30, 1971.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, in the Salvation Army. Maj. John F. Connors, retired Salvation Army, will officiate. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Ashville.
Friends will be received following the service in the fellowship hall.
