Luvena (Peggy) Marguerite Gannon, 89, of Laramie, died Saturday, March 10, 2012, at Laramie Care Center.
During World War II all 5 feet 90 pounds of Peggy Snyder decided to join the Marines, where she supervised a division of aircraft mechanics during the war as Sgt. Luvena "Peggy" Snyder. She served basic training at Camp Le Jeune and after was sent to Cherry Point Naval Air Station. It was during this time that she met Lt. John Gannon and where the two would eventually date, fall in love, and marry.
Luvena and her husband John moved to Laramie in 1959 with their three children, Michael, Marlene, and Mark. During her time in Laramie, Luvena served as the Commander of Civil Air Patrol, as a Girl Scout Leader, a Boy Scout Leader, and organized an air show for the town of Laramie. She was employed by Dunn's Coffee Shop and Books-A-Go-Go.
She is survived by her sons, Michael and Mark Gannon, daughter, Marlene Carstens and her husband Bob.
