Jana Carol Foster Snyder, 49, of Lubbock passed from this life on June 20, 2010. She was born in Lubbock on April 29, 1961 to Mary Alice and Edwin Foster. She was a graduate of Texas Tech University with a BBA in Accounting. Jana was a C.P.A. for 25 years and was employed by Robinson, Burdette, Martin, & Seright, L.L.P. in Lubbock, Texas.
Jana married her college sweetheart, Tim Snyder, on Dec. 18, 1982 at Monterey Church of Christ in Lubbock, where they attended up until the time of her passing. She dedicated herself to being the best wife and mother and throughout her illness; never missed an athletic, academic, or professional event for her husband and boys.
Jana served on the Executive Committee of Junior League of Lubbock and participated in PTA at Irons Jr. High and Coronado High School, where she was awarded a lifetime membership award. Her church family and small group surrounded her with love and helped her though this most difficult time; she could not have faced this without them. Jana served on several other community boards and participated in various charities throughout Lubbock, though her passion was Coronado High School sports and the Texas Rangers: she loved those boys!
Jana's care team, including Dr. Michael Robertson and his staff at Southwest Diagnostic Clinic, Dr. Everardo Cobos, Sandra, Kris, Sheree, Vasia and all her special friends at the Southwest Cancer Center were her "Special Angels," and the family will be forever grateful.
Jana is survived by her husband of 27 years, Tim Snyder of Lubbock; two sons, to whom she dedicated her life, Brandon of San Antonio and Steven of Lubbock; parents, Mary Alice and Edwin Foster of Lubbock; sisters, Peggy Agnew and husband Frank of Rising Star, Texas and Debra Dickson and husband Mark of Lubbock; brother-in-law, Jim Snyder and wife Cecilia of San Antonio; nieces, Amy Chumbley and husband Cody, Megan Garcia and husband Ben, Allison Colburn and husband Shane and Sarah Snyder; nephews, Josh Dickson and fiancée Macy McMeans, Evan Dickson, James M. "Buddy" Snyder and Alex Agnew.
In addition to her sisters, Debra and Peggy, whom she loved so much, are Jana's special friends, Joni Bills, Connie Timpleton, Cheryl Aycock, Bebe Petree, and Jana Hoffman, all of Lubbock, and Shannon King of Little Rock, Arkansas, who were so special in her life; she wanted them to know she loved them each dearly.
In lieu of flowers, the Snyder family asks for contributions to be made to Young Life Lubbock, 3202 34th Street, Lubbock, Texas, 79410.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at Monterey Church of Christ with Dr. Barry Stephens officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home. Please join us in celebrating Jana's life by visiting her memorial at www.resthavenfuneralhome.com.
