Charles Cortland Snook and Edith Van Rensselaer Sweet Snook lived on High Bridge St. by 1942. Mr. Snook was born on 1-22-1878, and was a native of Wampsville, NY. He came to Fayetteville about 1890, and later was in the insurance business and operated Snook's Pond--a swimming facility on Highbridge Rd. Mrs. Snook was born in Chicago on 2-22-1884, and the couple wed on 5-9-1903. She died on 12-13-1952, and Mr. Snook died on 4-28-1971, at age 93.

-Edith May Snook, who was born on 5-9-1904, married Paul A. M. Corbett on 1-20-1930 and later wed Nicholas P. Makanna, and lived in Huntington, LI, NY,
-Genevieve Snook, who was born on 4-17-1906, wed Nelson Edward Robinson on 4-17-1930, and lived in Johnson City, NY, at her death on 11-20-1978,
-Cortland Snook, who was born about 1908, (see his listing below),

-Lt. Coburn Badgley Snook, who was born on 2-21-1919, married Aubrey Snook, served in the AAC during WWII, and died in an airplane crash on 3-22-1943, while undergoing training in TX,
-Carlton V. Snook, who was born about 1922, served in Dutch New Guinea in WWII, wed Lulu Kathryn Svendsen, graduated from Syracuse University in 1951, co-owned and operated the family pond and restaurant, and lived on Highbridge Rd. [notes of Edward Hutchinson]

Fayetteville Cemetery.

more than 80 years, Mr. Snook
was a native of Wampsville. He
was owner of Snooks Pond In
Fayetteville. He attended the
Fayetteville United Church and
was a 50-year member of
Fayetteville Lodge 578, F and
AM.
Surviving are three daughters,
Mrs. Edna Makanna of
Huntington, LI.; Mrs. Genevieve
Robinson of Binghamton, and
Mrs. Josephine Crump of Old
Saybrook, Conn.; three sons,
Cortland and Carlton Snook of
Fayetteville and Clark Snook of
Atlanta, Ga.; 11 grandchildren,
23 great-grandchildren, and one
great-great-grandchild.
