Mrs. Mary Eva Hodgson Snider, 95, passed away on Sept. 29, 2015, at Autumn Care of Salisbury. She was born Aug. 22, 1920, in Davie County, the daughter of the late Humphrey Clay Hodgson and the late Nealie Camille Peacock. Educated in the Davie County schools, she graduated from Harmony High School. She was a member of No Creek Primitive Baptist Church for 72 years and was active as long as her health allowed. She was known as “Granny Snider” to family and many friends. She loved to sew, quilt, garden, cooking and baking, and spending time with and playing “Rook” with her family. She also enjoyed attending tractor pulls. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, William Marshall “ Bill” Snider; sisters Lutelle Phillips, Mona Kamps and Lena Harris; brother Arzie Hodgson; daughter-in-law Jeanette O. Snider; son-in-law John T. Sink. Survivors include a son, Marshall C. Snider of Salisbury; daughters Barbara S. Sink of Lexington, Linda S. Davis and husband Troy of Tallahassee, Fla., Mary S. Hammill and husband Fred of Mount Pleasant, Judy S. Brown and husband Bob of Ferrum, Va., and Janie S. Beaver and husband Johnny of Cornelius; brother Carl Hodgson and wife Ruth of Harmony; sister Pat Swisher of Harmony; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Arrangements: Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 2 at No Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Mocksville with Elder Eddie Fowler officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, Oct. 1 from 6 p.m.–8 p.m. at Powles Staton Funeral Home in Rockwell. Memorials: May be made to No Creek Primitive Baptist Church, c/o Lester Snider, 445 Dusty Lane, Salisbury, NC 28146; and Rowan Hospice and Palliative Care, 720 Grove St., Salisbury, NC 28144.
