Born to Alma Vivian & Martha Mildred Smoot, the oldest of 10 children. She spent her youth in Corrine UT and met her husband James Preston Bunting while going to school in Logan UT.
They married May 26, 1952 and celebrated 60 years of marriage this year They resided in Logan while finishing their education then moved to Kanab where they have lived and raised their family for the last 54 years.
During that time Marty had several different and fulfilling jobs. She was a waitress at the famous Parry Lodge where she met many stars, she owned her own floral shop and always loved working with the flowers. But her most fulfilling job was her daycare in her home. Marty had a great love for children and she has been a second mom and grandma to many of the children in the community. She was also very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she served in many different capacities. The nursery of course being her favorite.
She is survived by her husband James Preston Bunting, her children Susan Erickson, Paula, Hafen and Ladd Bunting. Brothers & sisters, Karen Smoot (sis-in-law), Alene Thompson, Kirk Nelsen (bro-in-law), Rulon LeGrand Smoot, William Horace Smoot, Edna Louise Hardy, Kathleen Young, David Millard Smoot, Richard Smoot, 9 grandchildren & 9 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in deat by her brother Robert Alma Smoot, sister Joan Nelsen, sister in law Donna Smoot and brother in law Reid Thompson.
Funeral services held Nov 16 at the Kaibab South Chapel. Arrangements made with Mosdell Mortuary of Kanab, UT.
