Carolyn R. SMOKER, 71, passed away on Feb. 22, 2005 at 3:03 p.m. at her sister's residence, 556 Brentwood Drive, Akron.

Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on Aug. 2, 1933 to the Rev. Carter Cummins and Ethel Sempsrott Cummins, she married Charles E. Smoker on Oct. 6, 1956, in Akron. He passed away on Dec. 5, 2001.

Mrs. Smoker was a homemaker and a member of the Akron Church of God, the Marionettes of the Church, and the church choir.

Survivors include one daughter, Pam and husband Sheldon Begley, Topeka; three sons, Patrick and wife Freida Smoker, West Lafayette, Jeffery and wife Brenda Smoker, Angola, Douglas and wife Libby Smoker, Hudson; two sisters, Jo Ann and husband Bobby Clark, Akron, Melba Jones, Topeka; one brother, Ralph and wife Beverly Teel, Ellijay, Ga.; her mother in-law, Violet Smoker, Celina, Ohio; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Her funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Friday at Akron Church of God, Akron, with Pastors Terry Canfield and Steve Fleck officiating. Burial is at Akron Cemetery. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron.
