Mary Hooper Smith, died Sept 4, 1834, Age 1 year 11 mos. Daughter of John Hooper and Eunice N. (Waugh) Smith. Baby Mary's headstone is located in the Oxbow Cemetery in Norridgewock, Maine, across the river from Starks where her family came from. Her father was a senator from Starks in the Maine Senate. The cemetery is located in the field near the river on what is now the Hilton Farm on the Sandy River Road. According to one headstone, the farm was once owned by the Waugh family. Several other members of the Waugh family are buried there, including Col. James Waugh who was the first English child born in Somerset County according to his headstone.
