Donald B. Smith, 85, of Lincoln, formerly of Tecumseh, died Jan. 11, 2012. He was born to Clyde and Gladys (Ballentyne) Smith on June 4, 1926 in Woodbine, Iowa. He graduated from Woodbine High School in 1943. Donald was united in marriage to Rose A. Wettengel at the Woodbine Sacred Heart Parish on Sept. 18, 1948. They made their home in Woodbine till 1952 when they moved to Syracuse. They lived there until 1958 when they moved to Tecumseh. Donald and Rose moved from Tecumseh to Lincoln in 1998. Donald was a Utility Lineman for Harrison County REC in Iowa and then worked for Omaha Public Power District in Nebraska until his retirement. He joined the Catholic Church in 1948. He and Rose were members of St. Andrew Catholic Church until transferring their membership to St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Lincoln in 1998. Donald became a member of the Knights of Columbus in 1953. Donald was a life member and has been on honorary status for the past 15 years. He was also a member of IBEW and NRA. In his spare time Donald enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and he and Rose spent winters in Mission, Texas for many years.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Rose Smith of Lincoln, son, Richard Smith and Lou Ann Smith of Lincoln and daughter, Kathryn Davison and husband Leo of Lincoln, 5 grandchildren, Lee and Amanda Davison, Matthew and Angela Davison, Brian and Emily Davison, Michelle Smith and Josh Ray and Elizabeth Smith-Reeves and husband Judd Reeves, Jr. and 3 great-grandchildren, Jenna Davison, Cooper Davison and Clayton Reeves. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, son, Gerald Smith in 1994 and brother, Eugene Smith.

Funeral services will be held at the St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tecumseh, at 11:00 a.m. Sat. Jan. 14, 2012. Visitation will be at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Friday, Jan. 13th from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with rosary recited at 6:00 p.m. Interment will be in the St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery, Tecumseh.
