Mary Edna Smith Harris, 89, of Huntsville passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday.
Mary was the consummate friend and a natural educator all her life. As a friend, she was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, where she enjoyed all the numerous social and charitable events. She was a graduate of Walker College and Montevallo College. As an educator, she taught in the Madison County School System for over 25 years and taught fifth grade.
Survivors include her four children, Wayne Smith and wife Beth of Marietta, Ga., Danny Smith and wife Sherry of Homewood, Brenda Johnson and husband Ron of Shalimar, Fla., and Pam Hodge and husband Arthur of Harvest; grandsons, Jason Smith of England and Zach Smith of Atlanta; five step-grandchildren; great-grandson, Samuel Smith of Atlanta; and sister, Christene Shubert.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Marvin Elbert Smith, and her husband of 13 years, Wallace A. Harris.
