Juanita Maxine (Smith) Brooks is the daughter of Ross R. Smith and Mary Ethel (Kurtz) Smith. She married Chester Charles Brooks on 27 January 1941 in Scott County, Iowa.

Together, they had four daughters: Alice G., Rita M., Karen A., and Ruby L., and one son: Charles "Chuck" Smith.

Her husband, Chester Charles Brooks preceded her in death on 2 February 1970 in Moline, Illinois. Juanita Maxine (Smith) Brooks is buried in the Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery in Rock Island, IL.
