Mrs Milo Cooke one of Knox Co. staunch and sturdy pioneers, died at the Old Ladies Home in Knoxville. Death due to infirmities of old age being almost 93 years of age. Braving hardships of life in the almost barren country in the early 1850's, the Cooke family moved from Vermont to Henderson Il. A few years comming to Galesburg. They were present for the Lincoln-Douglas debate. As a talented woman she became known for her devotion to music and with the deeds of the early settlers. She became the first music teacher in the public schools. Married Milo Cooke 1848 they first located in N.J. later moving to Galesburg. She was a member of the Congregational church and active in its work. This obit was copied from a newspaper and published by the Knox Co. Genealogical Society.
