Sheila Ann (Devine) SMITH Born January 11, 1940 in Bronxville, NY; passed away peacefully in her sleep at home with her family at her side after a long battle with melanoma on June 30th. Sheila is survived by her husband, Hal; son, Dann, and his wife, Sydne; daughter, Debra, and her husband, Bob; granddaughters, Sarah and Catherine; and brothers, Don Devine, and his wife, Ann, and John Devine, and his wife, Dianne. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Her mother, Frances, who preceded her in death in 1994 raised her in Brooklyn, NY where she met her lifelong friends, June and Linda. She worked at American Cable and Radio (ITT), which was founded by her grandfather. She graduated from Immaculata College in Washington, D.C. where she met lifelong friends, Becky, Kay and Greta. She met the love of her life at a political convention and they were married on August 27, 1966 in Brooklyn. They moved to Seattle where they raised their two children. Their travels and adventures continued through the years, most recently to Bermuda in 2006, the site of their honeymoon. For over twenty years she was the Parish Secretary at Our Lady of the Lake (OLL). She was an active member of Sacred Heart Guild, Our Lady of the Lake Parish, and co-founded the Young Marrieds with Hal. She was an active volunteer for many years with the Hmong refugees at OLL. Sheila was a was a thoughtful and giving person and a beloved spouse, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Recitation of the Rosary will be Thursday, July 5th, at 10:00 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m., BOTH at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 8900 35th Ave. N. E., Seattle. Interment at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sheila's name to Our Lady of the Lake School, 3520 N. E. 89th St., Seattle, WA 98115; or A-Wish with Botswana Orphan Program, c/o Harold J. Smith, 7001 Sand Point Way N. E., C309, Seattle, WA 98115. Hoffner Fisher & Harvey
