Hazel Smith Dameron, 85, of China Spring, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2006. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, at the First Baptist Church in China Spring with the Rev. Mike Copeland officiating. Interment will be at 1:30 p.m. at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Foss Funeral Home.
Hazel was born in Lorena, Texas, to the late Thomas and Ida (Harvey) Smith. In 1947, Hazel married Pete Dameron. She was a long time resident of China Spring, where she worked alongside her husband on the dairy farm. She taught Sunday School for many years and had been a bookkeeper. She was a dedicated and loyal member of the China Spring Civic Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years; brothers, Clyde and Glenn Smith; and a son-in-law, Blake Hammons Sr.
She is survived by her children, Kay Hammons, of Florida, Penny and husband, Glenn Boyd, and Grady Dameron, all of China Spring; grandchildren, Blake Hammons Jr. and family, Gary Boyd and family; Andrew Boyd and family, and Laura Hammons; five great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Laura Beth Farris; several nieces and nephews; cousins; and a host of friends.
