Mary was born in Dallas County, Texas to Clarence and Madge (Hughes) Smith. She was married for 59 years to Leon R. Bettinger. She was a devout Lutheran and a homemaker. She also enjoyed oil painting and sewing.
Mary E. Bettinger was preceded in death by her husband, Leon R. Bettinger; brother, Robert C. Smith; and sisters, Elsie Waters and Sue Coley.
Survivors include a son, Lynn R. Bettinger, Sr of Waco; 4 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
