Janis Davis of Odessa, 66 passed away peacefully from this life Thursday morning, June 16, 2011 at the Hospice House of Odessa. Janis fought poor health for the past few years of her life, and will be missed very much by her family and friends.
She was born March 5th, 1945 in Odessa to C.W. and Mavis Smith. Janis had the ability to do anything she wanted to in life. Her number one goal was to be a wife and a mother. That was a goal she full-filled very well. Janis didn't meet many strangers. If she did, they were soon friends. That openness was due to her big heart. She was always looking for ways to help others. When her grandkids were born Jan-Jan was quickly on the scene to make sure the first couple of weeks were easier on her children and other grandchildren. She definitely lived life to the fullest, and crammed as much fun as she could into her 66 years. Janis graduated from Permian High School in 1963. On November 2nd, 1990 Janis married her best friend and soul mate, Billy Harold Davis, the love of her life. They had known each other since they were four years old. When they married they combined their familes.
Janis was preceded in death by her loving Father C.W. Smith and her brother, Larry Bert Smith.
She is survived by her mother, Mavis Smith and sister in law Lynette Gynn.
She is survived by husband, Billy Davis; daughters, Tammi Hinton and husband Robert, Jamie Welch and husband Troy, and Michelle Davis, Larry Wayne Burris, Darah Elliott and husband Ray; Leann Dunlap and husband Jerry, and Marcy Davis.
Janis received a lot of joy out of her grandkids and later her six great grandkids. Jan Jan's grandchildren include, Danielle, Brandon, Robert Jr., Kaylee, Ashlee, Brayden, Colton, Tyler, Cameron, Ryan, Kelsey, Chancy, Ryan, Rylee, Fernando, Melinda and Natasha.
