Ruth Marie (Sapp) Curfman, 84, of Montrose, Iowa, died at 10:35 PM Friday, November 15, 2002, at Keokuk Area Hospital.
She was born April 27, 1918, in Niota, Illinois, the daughter of John A. and Belle Neason Smith. She married William Sapp on December 10, 1932, in Memphis, Missouri. He preceded her in death on October 19, 1944. She married Ernest D. Curfman on May 18, 1946 in Kahoka, Missouri. He preceded her in death on August 17, 1978. She lived in Keokuk most of her life and in New Boston, Iowa from 1969 until 1995 and in Montrose, Iowa from 1995 until her death.
She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary for 31 years; Women of the Moose Club, Chapter #584 for 50 years; and the Hermanis Federated Women's Club of Montrose. She actively attended the Montrose Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Crusaders.
She is survived by two sons, William A. Sapp and his wife, Ruth, of Ashland City, Tennessee and Roy M. Sapp and his wife, Alice, of Keokuk; nine grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 19, 2002, at DeJong's Funeral Home with Dr. Jim Eads officiating. Burial was in Keokuk National Cemetery.
