BISHOPVILLE — Annie Mae Smith was born May 13, 1925, in Lee County, a daughter of the late Bennie Sr. and Rosa Cook. She departed her life on Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, at her home in Bishopville.

She attended the public schools of Lee County. At an early age, she joined Jerusalem Baptist Church. Mrs. Smith was married to the late Lewis Smith Sr. She was previously employed by Kendall's.

She leaves to cherish her memories: two daughters, Brenda Deloris Smith of the home and Dianne (Sonny Garrett) Thomas of Charleston; one stepdaughter, Nicole (Robert) Parson of Winston-Salem, N.C.; four sons, Jessie (Bernice) Smith of Lugoff, Willie (Virginia) Smith of Rock Hill, Odell Smith of Bishopville and Johnny (Sue) Smith of Charlotte; one stepson, Eric Smith of Winston-Salem; two brothers, Franklin (Helen) Cook of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Bennie (Edna) Cook of Baltimore, Md.; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Smith will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Jerusalem Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

These services have been entrusted to Square Deal Funeral Home of Bishopville.
