Velma R. Macdonald, 86, of 371 Angell St. Providence, a receptionist at Rhode Island Hospital for 10 years, retiring in 1978, died Friday at the hospital after a two-month illness.
Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Arthur F. and Mabel E. (Reynolds) Smith.
Mrs. Macdonald was a member of Central Congregational Church, the Business & Professional Women's Club, Hamilton House and for many years active in music circles.
She leaves two daughters, a brother, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
