Wife of Don V. Beery.


Mrs. Emily Catherine [Smith] Beery, wife of Don V. Beery, died at 11:45 last night following the birth of an infant son. Word of her passing came as a surprise and shock to friends of the family. The remains will lie in state at the Kenney Funeral Home until 11 o'clock Sunday morning, when the body will be taken to Portland.

The funeral service, under the direction of the local company, will be at 3 o'clock Monday afternoon from the funeral home of J. P. Finley & Son, Montgomery and Fifth streets, Portland, with vault entombment at Lincoln Memorial Park.

Mrs. Beery came to Corvallis two years ago with Mr. Beery when the latter was transferred here from Oakland, California, Mr. Beery is employed with the mechanical staff at the local office of the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company.

She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Smith and was born in Portland, December 31, 1900. Mrs. Beery had spent the greater part of her life in Portland and was graduated from Lincoln High School. She married Don V. Beery, June 1, 1921. Since coming to Corvallis, Mr. and Mrs. Beery have resided in south Corvallis.

Besides the husband and infant son, Mrs. Beery is survived by her mother, Mrs. Julia Smith of Portland, and one sister, Mrs. Verna L. Day of San Francisco, California.
