BENTONVILLE, Ind. -- Elizabeth Jones, 98, formerly of the Bentonville community, passed away Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, at the Pine Knoll Rehabilitation Center in Winchester.

The daughter of the late Ernest Columbus and Mary Edith (Sellers) Smith, Elizabeth was born on Oct. 2, 1911, in Putnam County, Ind. Elizabeth was a 1929 graduate of Greencastle High School and attended business college in Indianapolis.

On June 21, 1931, in Paris, Ill., she married Lowell R. Jones. In 1938, she and her husband made their home on a farm north of Bentonville and during that time was a member of the Posey Township Home Ec Club and WCBC Women's Club of the Bentonville Community. She enjoyed crocheting, baking and her grandchildren.

Surviving relatives include two daughters, Kathryn L. Williams of Farmland and Carolyn Shedd (husband Curtis) of Connersville; son, Richard L. Jones (wife Jane) of Cambridge City; 10 grandchildren, Linda Bales (husband Jack), Kevin Williams (wife Beth), Annette Miller (husband Wayne), Kathy Jones, Diane Trotter (husband Robert), Jennifer McClung (husband Dale), Alan Shedd (wife Dottie), Bethan Ervin (husband Jeffrey), Larry Shedd (wife Sue) and Judith Smith (husband Danny); 29 great-grandchildren; 14 great- great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Heeke of Putnamville; cousin, Virginia Mason of Santa Maria, Calif.; sister-in-law, Kathleen Smith of Cloverdale.

Preceding her in death are parents; husband, Lowell R. Jones, on March 29, 1977; three brothers, Joyce "Bud,'' John and William Smith; sister, Mildred Davis; granddaughter, Breanna Elizabeth Bales; daughter-in-law, Patricia Ann Jones.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. till the time of services at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009, at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Rev. Larry Shedd, associate pastor of the Living Waters Assembly of God Church in Connersville, will officiate. Burial will follow at the Bentonville Cemetery in Bentonville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 50 E. 91 St., Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46209-4830.
