Anchor – James A. Smith, 84, of Anchor died at 7:30 p.m. Friday (November 28, 1958) at Gibson Community Hospital. He suffered a heart attack at the Kinsell Nursing Home in Saybrook Thursday morning. His funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Harper Funeral Home in Colfax, with the Rev. Robert Fyffe officiating. Burial will be in Anchor Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday evening.
He was born September 13, 1874. His wife, the former Nora Hagar, preceded him in death.
Surviving are a son, Lawrence H. of Anchor; three daughters, Mrs. Melba Zanders of Travis Air Force Base, California, Mrs. Pearl Taylor and Mrs. Irene Worrick of Anchor; a brother, Edward of Mendon, Michigan; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Two sisters and five brothers preceded him in death.
