Thelma A. Graddy, 72, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois passed away at 9:05 P.M. on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.

Mrs. Graddy was born on Tuesday, November 14, 1939 in Hamilton County, Illinois the daughter of the late James Roy and Eva Faye (Broyles) Smith. She married Roger Graddy on July 19, 1957 at Braden Valley General Baptist Church in Hamilton County, Illinois.

Thelma was a homemaker and assisted with the family business, State Beauty Supply in Mt. Vernon, Illinois and was a member of Park Avenue Baptist Church.

Surviving family members include her husband: Roger Graddy of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; son: Brent Graddy and wife Kim of St. Louis, Missouri; 2 daughters: Pam Faulkenberg and husband Jeff of Troy, Illinois and Tammy Davis and husband Stan of St. Peters, Missouri; 7 grandchildren: Jordan, Devan and Dylan Faulkenberg, Bria and Brittani Davis and Grace and Brock Graddy; brother: Rev. Donald Smith and wife Betty of Columbia, Missouri; sister: Lorene Dial and husband William "Jill" of McLeansboro, Illinois; brother-in-law: William "Bill" Graddy and wife Sandy of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; sister-in-law: Cheryl Miltenberger and husband Hank of Covington, Louisiana; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Her parents, one brother and sister-in-law: Harold and Helen Smith, one grandson: Brennan Faulkenberg and one niece: Brenda Barker preceded her in death.

FUNERAL SERVICES: will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, October 12, 2012 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Reverend Merle Fullerton will officiate. VISITATION: will be held from 5 to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. INTERMENT: In honor of ther request, she will be cremated following the funeral services. Her ashes will be inurned at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, Illinois at a later date. For those who wish, memorials may be given to the American Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Institute and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, Illinois 62864.
