|Birth: ||May 31, 1872|
|Death: ||May 8, 1912|
Eva Maria Smith was born in Tippecanoe county, Indiana, May 8, 1912. She the daughter of Levi and Maria Smith. She was united in marriage to Harvey C. Benthall April 1, 1892, in Vancouver, Washington.
To this union were born three children: Alice L. and Ardyce L., one dying in infancy. Surviving besides the immediate family, she leaves three brothers and four sisters -- Samuel C. Smith, Portland, Oregon; Frank W. Smith, Tipton, Indiana, Mrs. Minnie Neff, North Yakima, Wash.; Mrs. John Mohr, Portland, Oregon, Mrs. Ida Putenny, Cottonwood, Idaho; A. L. Smith and Mrs. Mary J. Davis, Millford, IL. She was an exemplary wife and mother, and her deeds of kindness and sweet smiles of affection will ever linger in the minds of those with whom she came in contact. She realized that death would be the conqueror, and her request to her husband was, "Be good to the girls." In her demise the husband lost a faithful and loving companion, the children a much adored mother, and the neighbors a kind and faithful woman.
To the stricken family and relatives we extend our sincerest and heartfelt sympathy in this their sad hour of bereavement, and seek to console them that mother is safe in the realms of the blest and anxiously awaits their coming. Funeral services conducted by Rev. G. A. Phelps, of Macedonia, Illinois.
A precious one from us is gone,
A voice we loved is stilled;
A place is vacant in our home
That never can be filled.
