She was the wife of both the late Jack Bruce and James Arikpo. She was the mother of Leonard (Carolyn) Bruce of LaGrange and the late Michael; sister of Barbara Evans of Maywood; mother-in-law of Danette Bruce of Chicago; sister-in-law to Dolores Smith and Rosemary Perkins, both of Chicago; grandmother of Judith Bruce of LaGrange, Leonard P. Bruce, II, of Raeford, NC, Jonathan Bruce of LaGrange, Jamie Bruce of Waukesha, WI, Cassanda Arthur of Chicago, and the late Michelle Bruce; great-grandmother of Leonard Bruce, III, of Raeford, NC, Gebril Ismaiel of LaGrange, Christopher Morris and Elliott Patterson, both of Chicago; daughter of the late Clarinda Barbara Sims Smith and Frank Holland Smith of LaGrange; aunt to a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation was on Thursday, May 16, 2013, from 10am until the time of the mass of Christian burial, which was at 11am at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in LaGrange. Interment was in the Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, Illinois.
