Luanna L. Alexander, 66, of Mediapolis, Iowa, died Dec. 8, 1998 at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City. She was born to George T. Smith and Ethel L. (Holder) Smith; married to Robert J. Alexander on Feb. 23, 1951. He preceded her in death in 1989. She had been employed by the Sheaffer Pen Company, Santa Fe Railroad and TGY in Ft. Madison.
Luanna was affiliated with the Baptist Church and was a member of the Eagles Club of Ft. Madison, Women's Shrine Organization, and the Rag Top Club. She loved to garden, watch and feed birds, and she loved children. She was also a member of the KAABA Widows and "Offician Hillbilly Gals."
She is survived by two sons, Michael Alexander of Ft. Madison and Jim Alexander of Kingston; a daughter, Patricia Heiniger, of Oakville, Iowa; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 12, 1998 at Lunning Chapel in Burlington with Pastor Judy Gingerich officiating. Interment was in the Oakland Cemetry at Ft. Madison.
A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society of Des Moines County.
