Caroline Smith was born in West Point, Iowa, January 15, 1850. On April 20, 1880 she was united in marriage to John Arthur. This union was blessed with four children. Since the death of her husband, eight years ago, she made her home with her son Ed in Nebraska and daughter in South Dakota.
Mrs. Arthur is survived by two sons, Ed Arthur of Martha, Neb., Wm. Arthur of Gordon, Neb. and one daughter, Mrs. John Sand of Colome, S.D.. Her husband died in 1922. She is also survied by one brother, John Smith of West Point and one sister, Mrs. Catherine Schutte of Fort Madison. Also by nineteen grandchildren.
The remains were brought to West Point Monday and funeral services were held at St. Mary's Church at 9:30 o'clock. Rev. Father Grothe officiated and interment was made in Calvary Cemetery.
Six nephews acted as pallbearers: Geo., Leo, Louis, Albert and Alvis Neuweg, and Wm. Arthur.
Ed Arthur of Martha, Neb., accompanied the remains to West Point.
