MACON - Services for Charlie "Goolsby" Smith, Sr. are 11:00am, Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at Ross Temple Baptist Church with interment in Middle GA Memory Gardens.
Having served as Ross Temple's Deacon Board Chairman and active Sunday School member, Smith, a Mathis-Akins Concrete Block Co. (40 plus years) retiree, passed April 5. His parents, Jim and Mattie Byas Goolsby Smith, and son, Charlie Smith, Jr., preceded him in death.
Survivors include: wife, Dollie P. Smith; children, Dorothy (Julius) Fitzpatrick, Columbus, GA, Charlene Pounds, Vivian Clark, Jerrie Robinson, Macon, Joyce H. (Issac) Whitehurst, Tampa, FL, Carrie (Clarence) Harvey-Moore, Suffolk, VA, Tyrone (Teresa) Harvey, Petersburg, VA; 21 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granchild, other relatives.
