June 29, 1929 - August 18, 2014
The death of Richard Davis Smith, age 85, occurred Monday August 18, 2014 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Wednesday August 20, 2014 at 11:00 O’clock at the Gordon First Baptist Church with Rev. Maxie Threatt and Rev. Paul Curry officiating. Burial will follow in Hardies’ Chapel Cemetery in Jones County.
Mr. Smith was a life long resident of Wilkinson & Jones County and was retired from Freeport Kaolin with over 40 years of service. He was a graduate of Gordon High School and was a member and deacon of the Gordon First Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 until the funeral hour at the Gordon First Baptist Church.
The family request in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the Gordon First Baptist Church or Pine Point Hospice.
Couey-Reece-Stanley Funeral Home of Gordon is in charge of arrangements.
