DECATUR, AL - Vivian Smith Arnold, 92, passed away on Monday, May 28, 2012, after a lengthy illness. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00a.m. on Friday, June 1, 2012, at Perry Presbyterian Church. Interment will be in Perry Memorial Gardens immediately following the service.
Mrs. Arnold was born in Dante, Virginia, to the late Myrtle Large Smith and W. J. Smith, Sr., and grew up in Bristol, Tennessee. She met the love of her life, Kyle Arnold, at church, and they married in 1941. Mrs. Arnold was a homemaker, and spent most of her time preparing her home for her children and her children for the world. She taught and practiced, "Love God first", then taught her family how to care for each other by caring for all of them. In 1959, the Arnolds moved their family to Perry, Georgia. She became a member of Perry Presbyterian Church. She was very active when she could be, and truly loved her church. She moved to Decatur, Alabama, a few years ago to be near her daughter.
Mrs. Arnold was preceded in death by her loving husband of fifty-eight years, Kyle E. Arnold, Sr.; and two brothers, W. J. Smith, Jr. and Dale Smith.
The legacies she leaves behind to cherish her memories are her children, Larry Arnold of Warner Robins, Eddie Arnold (Marilyn) of Bonaire, and Margaret Fudge (James) of Decatur, Alabama; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
