Irene Lucille (Smith) Ball, 85, went home to Heaven on Aug. 26, 2008. She was with her family and friends at Worthington Manor, where she lived for the past few years.
She was the daughter of the late Fred F. and Alice Marie Wayne Smith. She was born March 25, 1923, in Parkersburg. Irene attended Landmark Baptist Church and was a cook at VFW Post 1212 for 38 years. She was well known for her fish fries, steak sandwiches and Wednesday bean soup.
She is survived by her four daughters, Barbara Anderson and her late husband, Ron, of Vienna, Linda Daugherty and husband, Dudley, of Mineral Wells, Nancy Ross and husband, Chuck, of Parkersburg and Tina Westfall and husband, Andy, of Davisville; 12 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wm. Raymond Ball; sister, Beulah Newbanks; daughter, Shirley Blosser; and friend and companion, Frank (Bud) Halley, all of whom she missed dearly.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg with Pastor Charlene Spaur officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
